Spices Used

Lil Diya uses spices from a variety of sources based on quality, availability and price.  Our blend has a weighted formula derived from many months of testing and sampling.

Garam masala is a blend of ground spices used extensively in Indian cuisines. Sometimes used on its own, it can be mixed with other seasonings as well. The spices for garam masala are toasted to bring out more flavor and aroma, and then grounded.  It includes black pepper, white pepper, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, bay leaf, and cumin.

Curry powder is the blend of spices used in many Indian dishes.  It includes coriander, chillies, black pepper, cumin, mustard, fenugreek, garlic, turmeric, salt, and bengal gram farina.

Paprika has a mild peppery flavor that releases its color and flavor when heated. Derived from the pods of ground red peppers, paprika is commonly used to enhance flavor and color of foods.

Black pepper has a sharp aroma and a characteristic piney flavor that tastes great in dressings, egg dishes, potatoes, meat, and seafood.  It adds to the aromatic experience in Lil Diya Spice Mix and provides zest in your foods.

Organic cane sugar is certified by the USDA to be organic and carbon free.  The sweet in Lil Diya Spice Mix balances the salt and heat to give your taste buds enlightenment.

Kosher salt is a coarse-grained salt made from the salt crystals and was original used to kosher meat (remove the blood).  It gives the mix a bold taste and appearance

Chili Powder provides little heat.
